SSASIM input table TRND_MV

Contains specification of number of transition years from the initial value to the ultimate (or long-run trend) value, and mean and standard deviation of that ultimate value. Each row specifies these values for one stochastic variable (identified by its var_index), so many rows are required for each table id value.

SSASIM:   TRND_MV . id
Identifies set of trend mean-variance values for all stochastic variables, so value should be unique for each group of rows that has a complete collection of var_index values (see var_index).

Valid values: 1 to 999999999 (nine digits), Integer

SSASIM:   TRND_MV . var_index
Specifies index of stochastic variable whose trend mean-variance specification appears in this table row. There must be fifteen rows for each table id value.

Valid values: 1 to 15, Integer

1 : total fertility rate (tfr) [log-decimal]

2 : total net immigration (imm) [in millions]

3 : mortality decline rate (mdr) [in percent per year]

4 : female labor force participation rate (fpr) [log-odds] [cannot be stochastic in OLC, ESP, RCS, or ESP+ modes]

5 : male labor force participation rate (mpr) [log-odds] [cannot be stochastic in OLC, ESP, RCS, or ESP+ modes]

6 : unemployment rate (unr) [log-odds] [cannot be stochastic in OLC, ESP, RCS, or ESP+ modes]

7 : inflation rate (inf) [in percent per year]

8 : productivity growth rate (pgr) [in percent per year]

9 : wage share growth rate (wsg) [in percent per year]

10 : hours worked growth rate (hwg) [in percent per year]

11 : nominal interest rate (nir) [log-decimal-rate]

12 : disability incidence factor (dif) [log-decimal] [only ultimate rate is stochastic in OLC, ESP, RCS, or ESP+ modes]

13 : disability recovery factor (drf) [log-decimal] [only ultimate rate is stochastic in OLC, ESP, RCS, or ESP+ modes]

14 : equity return (eqr) [log-decimal-gross-nominal-annual-return]

15 : tbill spread (tbs) [difference-in-log-decimal-rate]

[log-decimal] means that variable is expressed as natural logarithm of the decimal (not percentage) value of the variable. This transformation is used to represent variables whose values must always be positive.

[log-odds] means that variable is expressed as natural logarithm of the odds of the value of the variable, where the odds of variable x is equal to x/(1-x). This transformation is used to represent variables whose values must always be between zero and one (like the decimal unemployment rate).

Valid values: any ASCII text (Note: do not copy and paste from a word processor because of the possibility of embedded non-ASCII characters.)

SSASIM:   TRND_MV . tran_years
Specifies number of transition years between RUN.year_zero and year in which stochastic variable first reaches its long-run trend value.

Valid values: 1 to 999, Integer

SSASIM:   TRND_MV . mean
Specifies mean value of multivariate normal distribution of ultimate (long-run trend) values for stochastic variable. Mean value must be expressed in variable's units as described above in the documentation for the TRND_MV.var_index field. For variables expressed in log-odds or log-decimal terms, the required calculations of the transformed mean and std_dev can be performed by the probtran utility, which is invoked by selecting the Help menu 'Calculating assumption parameter values' item in the RSF Toolkit.

SSASIM:   TRND_MV . std_dev
Specifies standard deviation of multivariate normal distribution of ultimate (long-run trend) values for stochastic variable. Standard deviation value must be expressed in variable's units (see discussion above in the documentation of the TRND_MV.mean field). For variables expressed in log-odds or log-decimal terms, the required calculations of the transformed mean and std_dev can be performed by the probtran utility, which is invoked by selecting the Help menu 'Calculating assumption parameter values' item in the RSF Toolkit.

Valid values: 0.0 to 100.0, Real [std_dev must be zero for fpr, mpf, and unr when operating in OLC, ESP, RCS, or ESP+ modes]

SSASIM:   TRND_MV . dev_stddev
Specifies value of standard deviation of VAR(2) deviation error (the annual fluctuation around the ultimate value) for stochastic variable specified on this table row. Note that positive values have no effect on output produced in OLC, ESP, RCS, or ESP+ modes.

Valid values: 0.0 to 100.0, Real [dev_stddev must be zero for fpr, mpf, and unr when operating in OLC, ESP, RCS, or ESP+ modes]
